Rhea Larnas

Rhea Larnas is a Dragoon of Bahamut.¹

Description

Appearance

Rhea stands six foot four.² Her fang is a warhammer that she carries on her back. It has a light wooden shaft wrapped in a silver pattern like a dragon’s tail, and one of its two heads is shaped like a dragon’s head, with a pattern of wings carved into it. Its metal is a very bright silver, rippled like Damascus steel, and the ripples move slowly.² It is cold to the touch.²

Biography

Session 4

Cassia Brightshield offered to arrange a meeting between Temerity and Rhea to discuss Temerity becoming a Dragoon.¹ Rhea found her waiting at the barracks and asked why she should be a Dragoon. Temerity answered with her death and return. Rhea mentioned that she is from Erhadell, warned Temerity to tell nobody else, and said she would get her into the Dragoons.¹

Session 9

Temerity found a note from Rhea at the barracks on 29 Coldrise, 1714 PSF, dated that morning, saying that things were proceeding well and that Temerity’s Dragoon training should begin in the next few days.³

Session 14

Rhea stood in the training yard with Cassia Brightshield and Lia Amakiir when the wetscales gathered before sunrise on 1 Nightdeep, 1714 PSF. When Lia left the cadets to her, she told them what the coming weeks would test, and had them introduce themselves.² During the day’s drills she asked Temerity whether her maul was unwieldy, and showed her own fang. A Dragoon is marked by their fang, she said, and if Temerity were chosen, one would be made for her, perhaps with part of her old hammer worked into it.²

Session 15

On 2 Nightdeep, 1714 PSF, Rhea had the cadets pair off and spar, since push-ups and rope climbing would not tell her what she needed to know.⁴ After Temerity knocked out Emeric Vael, Rhea told her she had thought Emeric the recruit with the most combat potential, and would have to think again. “I’m really starting to think you have what it takes.”⁴

Session 17

At lunch in the mess hall on 7 Nightdeep, 1714 PSF, Rhea asked Temerity how training was going, and talked through the cohort. Maren Frostburn and Mika Voss came from the Light Wardens, as it ran in their families, and the dark horses were Temerity and Emeric Vael.⁵ She asked why Temerity was doing this and where she was from, and had passed through Crick's Bend once or twice on patrols.⁵ Between the two of them, she thought that by the end of the month they would be handing Temerity a fang.⁵

When Temerity asked whether what people said about purification was true, Rhea took her word that it would go no further, then told her it means purifying the Silver Vale, not the mage: mages are conscripted to fight the Sorrow.⁵ In all her time as a Dragoon she had met one or two mages, and she stopped herself before saying more of them.⁵ A Sorrowsworn is nowhere near the worst thing the Sorrow has to offer, she said, and she could say no more until Temerity was sworn in.⁵

Session 18

Rhea was not at the barracks on 8 Nightdeep, 1714 PSF. She and the other Dragoons were indisposed with an operation that needed their full attention, and the wetscales’ training was put on hold.⁶
