Silas Wintermist

Silas Wintermist, called the Ferryman, works with the Tarnar Syndicate in Argentum.¹ Luma found him too calm and too confident.¹

Description

Appearance

Silas has distinctive silvery white hair, almost icy blue, and pale eyes.² He wore a nice pale cream coat to meet Iva, with the hood up.²

Personality

Silas made Iva an offer in which she saw no sign of deceit, only that he had built it so that she could not refuse, and knew it.² He deals in favors.¹²

Biography

Session 3

The party found Silas in a hidden room in the sewers with Miles Quickstep and the mage child Brundun.¹ In the standoff that followed he offered the party a choice: let Miles go and be owed a favor by the Syndicate, or turn Miles in and owe the Syndicate one.¹ The party turned Miles in.¹

Session 15

Silas met Iva, in the guise of Emilio, at the square where she had handed Brundun to Miles Quickstep, at sunset on 2 Nightdeep, 1714 PSF. A man sent ahead looked her over first.² Silas told her that the Syndicate had other contacts inside the Order of the Lantern, and that Harwick Stoll was trying to report the party’s magic up north.² He warned her of the loose ends she had left: Julia Valerius’s investigation of the forged documents, and Gavril Valerius’s interest in them.² He proposed that she help him keep a promise to Miles and get him out of prison and out of the city, and that Iva D’Aquino appear to die doing it, with a faked explosion and a body dug out of the ground.² As a favor he would keep Stoll’s report from becoming official. Iva agreed to that one job.²

Session 18

Silas left a spell glyph holding the sending spell in one of Iva’s dead drops, with a note: “Break this glyph, say my name, and tell me where you are.”³ When Iva broke it at the Silver Archives on 8 Nightdeep, 1714 PSF, his voice answered in her head, setting her to survey the barracks of the Order of the Lantern and the Stone Shields and the routes between them, and to report in the dead drop.³

Session 19

Iva left an update for Silas in the dead drop on 9 Nightdeep, 1714 PSF, with a second route the Order’s guarded carriages take and the escort formation they use.⁴
