The Hearth Wall is the most populous district of Argentum, between the Grand Canals and the city’s outer wall, which is also called the Hearth Wall. Life here is practical and varied, and the district holds communal longhouses, artisan quarters and barracks.
Description
The wall itself is white stone, fifty feet tall, with watchtowers of seventy-five feet along its length. Building inside it is more mixed than in the Lantern Wards, in cobblestone, brick and wood, and all of it dates from after the Starfall.1 The district has plenty of dark alleys.2 It has a couple of little theaters.3 Some parts of it have no lava lamps to warm them as the inner city is warmed.3
The Canal Markets trade along the south side of the Grand Canal.4 Few Everfire lanterns stand in the district, but the canals are lined with them.4

- The Dancing Sword, an inn and tavern just past the Swordgate bridge.52
- The Sterling Sovereign, a restaurant and inn near the Canal Markets on the south side of the district.5
- Sterling Outfitters & Expeditionary, a large shop with lower prices.6
- Silverwright Tools & Tackle, a narrow, soot-stained smithy in the north-west of the district, near Sterling Outfitters. Its one smith makes the goods and runs the shop, and they are of decent quality and a little pricier.6
- The Canal Markets, an open-air market along the Grand Canal, where Vada's Otherworldly Goods and the Spicy Brothers are among the stalls.74

Hazel found a secure spot in a dark alley to change back from a chipmunk on 30 Coldrise, 1714 PSF, before the party ate at the Dancing Sword.2
Session 16
The Stacks, a small bar in the southern Hearth Wall, is the meeting place of the Unbound.8 Beyond the wall, the sprawl of the Outer Works runs about three miles out.8
Session 17
The party chased a man through the side streets of the district on 7 Nightdeep, 1714 PSF, near Rhysaene's apartment, and questioned him in an alley.3 Daisy had arranged to meet him late on the 10th in an alley straight south of the Canal Markets, near the wall.3
Session 18
Luma and Rhysaene shopped at the Canal Markets on 8 Nightdeep, 1714 PSF. Rhysaene spent a crown on groceries, and they bought buns at Vada’s Otherworldly Goods.7
Session 19
Temerity jogged around the district on the cold morning of 9 Nightdeep, 1714 PSF, and bought breakfast at the Canal Markets. The party spent that evening at the market.4
