Madam Kulp's Silk

Madam Kulp’s Silk is a silk tent at the far eastern end of the Canal Markets in Argentum, run by Madam Kulp.¹ She makes her silk from what her tut-krogh caterpillars weave.¹

Description

A big round tent of colored silks woven together, bright enough to be seen from far across the market. Each silk has a pearlescent sheen that shimmers in the lamplight.¹ Inside are rolls of silk and gowns and garb already sewn, and Madam Kulp tailors to order.¹ The silk is stronger than ordinary silk, and feels like water, perfectly smooth and cool to the touch.¹ A garment starts at fifty crowns, and a square yard of silk costs twenty-five.¹ About twenty caterpillars crawl about the tent.¹

History

Session 19

Kasem Aroon brought the party here on the evening of 9 Nightdeep, 1714 PSF, as part of a tour of the market. Most of the caterpillars fled from them and hid, and Hazel calmed the rest.¹ Outside the tent, Luma found persimmon peels and the smell of a struck match.¹
