The Starfall is the cataclysm held to have ended the old world. In the teaching of the Synod of the Silver Flame it happened a little over seventeen hundred years ago, when a comet struck the earth. The same teaching holds that arcane hubris called the star down out of the void.
Aftermath
A creeping blight called the Sorrow spread across the land in the wake of the impact. It killed or corrupted everything in its path, including the gods.
Bahamut, the Platinum Dragon, was the last god remaining. He gathered as many survivors as he could into a walled city in the Silver Vale, and there performed the Covenant of the Silver Flame, giving up his life and consciousness to become lasting protection for the city. That city is Argentum.
What Is Commonly Known
Most modern history in Argentum is dated relative to the Starfall, though many of the specifics are held to have been lost. Argentum counts its years PSF, post-Starfall, from the event it holds ended every civilization but its own. When that count came into use is not known.1 Bahamut reached the place that would become Argentum with the refugees ten years after the Starfall.1 The Synod of the Silver Flame teaches that those living beyond the Silver Vale are corrupted by the Sorrow, or else cultists, brigands or madmen.
The coven that raised Hazel teaches that the impact gave the moon a permanent luminance, and that it has had no phases since.1

Session 18
In a vision on 8 Nightdeep, 1714 PSF, the figure Temerity took to be the embodiment of the Silver Flame told her that what her kind call the Starfall disrupted the fundamental nature of the world. It changed what dwells upon its surface, and brought out the darkness within the hearts of all mortal kind.2
Session 19
Madam Kulp told the party on 9 Nightdeep, 1714 PSF, that her ancestor brought tut-krogh caterpillars north in the immediate aftermath of the Starfall.3
