Spicy Brothers

The Spicy Brothers is a stall at the Canal Markets in Argentum, owned by the brothers Vi Aroon and Kasem Aroon, who opened it about fifteen years ago.¹ It sells spices, peppers and coffee, and holds the Aroon Family Pepper Challenge.¹

Description

A large tent with a wooden back, and one of the busier stalls in the market.¹ It sells spices, seasonings, peppers and coffee, in beans and in several blends, and a few cooked dishes: cucumber fire smoothies, and honey-glazed hot chips made with sweet heat peppers, at five embers each.¹ Most peppers cost a silver or two a pound, and some more exotic ones are priced by the pepper.¹ It has seats at a counter like a bar, and tables, and smells of roasting chili peppers, crushed red pepper and fresh ground coffee.¹ An assistant in green and red silks waits on customers.¹ Kasem calls it the most successful and best food business in the market.¹

Session 19

Luma asked Vi on 9 Nightdeep, 1714 PSF, how to get a stall, and he told her about the Canal Market Merchants Council.¹ He was to retire within a few weeks, leaving Kasem the sole proprietor.¹ That evening Iva, Luma and Temerity won the pepper challenge, and Hazel passed out from a skull-faced pepper.¹
