Footlight Theater

The Footlight Theater is the largest theater in Argentum, and the city’s Synod-sponsored center for the performing arts. Argentum has a couple of little theaters in the Hearth Wall, but the Footlight is the one that gets the funding.¹ It stands in the Lantern Wards, across the Turnstone Bridge from Rhysaene's apartment and 940 feet from it.¹ Much of its money is public funding from the Synod, but it is owned by House Draken.¹ The Candlelight Players perform there.¹

Description

A large building of white stone, two or three stories tall, with a doorway as wide as a double door.¹ Inside, an entryway has a closed-off desk on the right and a closed door on the left, and a wide opening in the middle leads into the auditorium.¹ Footlights along the front of the stage light it with candles.¹ The acoustics are excellent.¹ There is always room in the lobby for local artists to hang their work.¹ The theater sometimes sells art on consignment.²

Behind the stage are dressing rooms with benches, vanity mirrors and basins of water, tables of food for the troupe, an office, and a prop room full of props of every kind and quality.¹ The prop room is kept locked.¹ Beneath its floor, under costume coats and prop barrels, a loose floorboard hid Lathiel's ledger.¹

History

Lathiel took Rhysaene to the theater many times, to watch or because she was in the production herself.¹

Session 17

Luma traced Lathiel’s ledger to the theater on 7 Nightdeep, 1714 PSF, and took it from under the prop room floor while Sera Siannodel and Donella Daergel pounded on the door.¹

Session 19

Rhysaene left her painting Burning Fields at the theater on consignment on 9 Nightdeep, 1714 PSF, asking 145 crowns, and Cassius Vane hung it in the entrance hallway.²
